SUYL: Kitchens

Today I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner for Show Us Your Life Friday. She's started a home tour series and the focus this week is kitchens. Our kitchen is probably one of my favorite rooms in the house.  Since I love to cook and bake, it's where I spend most of my time.  When we moved in just over two year ago, the kitchen is the room that needed the most work.  We made a list of everything we wanted to do and one by one started checking things off the list. Most of our accents are red and we've incorporated a lot of wine into the decor.

Here is what our kitchen looked like when we moved in...

Laminate floors, accent wall, wallpaper border, formica countertops,  white appliances, etc.

Here is a picture of the kitchen not too long after the move.  We picked an coffee color for the walls and red accents.  I love the wine bottle holders on the left, which were from Crate and Barrel.

One of our big purchases was granite countertops.  And what a difference they made.  Shortly after was all new appliances in black.  Things were starting to come together...

Our kitchen overlooks our living room.

A year ago my dad put in tile floors.  This definitely brought the entire room together and was the last big thing to check off our list.

This is the area I'm working on right now.  I've decided to put a wine cork backsplash in this space.  It's an odd desk area right next to the fridge.  I thought it would be a good place to take the clutter off the fridge.  I'm working on a tutorial for the project once it's finished. You can see an updated  in progress picture below.

Now for some of my favorite touches in the kitchen...

I used my Cricut to make this plate for the corner of the bar (where the spices used to be, see pic above)

Candles are always lit in my house.  I love the Bath and Body Works 3 wick and this holder matched perfectly.

More wine inspired decor.

The wine cork backsplash I'm in the process of finishing.  I just need some more wine corks! I also LOVE this new KCup holder I bought.  It takes up much less space then the one we had before.

The new island that I LOVE!  It was from Target and is the perfect place for my cookbooks, mixer and coffee cups inside.

                                                                      Wine Cork Monogram

No kitchen is complete without fresh flowers! These are from hubs before he left for Chicago for a friends wedding this weekend.  I'm missing him but mom and dad are here keeping me busy working on lots of baby stuff!

I hope you enjoyed the tour, happy Friday!
